Jesus Calling, September 20

INSPIRATION - Jesus Calling

by Sarah Young

Try to see things more and more from My perspective. Let the Light of My Presence so fully fill your mind that you view the world through Me. When little things don't go as you had hoped, look to Me lightheartedly and say, "Oh, well." This simple discipline can protect you from being burdened with an accumulation of petty cares and frustrations. If you practice this diligently, you will make a life-changing discovery: You realize that most of the things that worry you are not important. If you shrug them off immediately and return your focus to Me, you will walk through your days with lighter steps and a joyful heart.

When serious problems come your way, you will hav:e more reserves for dealing with them. You will not have squandered your energy on petty problems. You may even reach the point where you can agree with the apostle Paul that all your troubles are light and momentary, compared with the eternal glory being achieved by them.

Proverbs 20:24https
A man's steps are from the Lord;
    how then can man understand his way?

2 Corinthians 4:17-18
17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,

18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away”__ Revelation 21:1-4*

Which brings me to today: Most of my inspiration for writing comes to me during the night, or upon awakening in the morning. I’m a creature of habit, and it is my habit to go to bed at 9:00 pm and arise at 5:30 am. This morning when I awoke I felt the inspiration to write about the Cross.

My daughter gave me a beautiful necklace with a cross on it for Christmas, and I wear it 24 hours a day, never taking it off. It is gray and silver metallic, and on it is written the Lord’s Prayer, the Our Father. It is the only piece of jewelry I have worn in over 30 years, and I have no intention of taking it off until the day I die. It is a constant reminder that Jesus is the focus of my life. I am his disciple, his evangelist, his witness. The cross lives close to my heart, reminding me to always remember Jesus, and that I always have his Spirit to be with me—Jesus lives and dwells in my heart at all times and in all places. He is my guide and my inspiration—my wisdom and the reason for living. I write for him.*
