Bloom Where You're Planted

"I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want" (Philippians 4:12)

What is the secret of being content? I believe it is gratitude. Being thankful to God for everything in your life is a spiritual discipline that can be practiced every day of your life. It takes thought and mindfulness, but it is well worth the effort. Paul suffered tragedy, rejection, physical pain, and persecution. Yet he persevered through it all, and remained grateful for whatever he had. The most important thing he had was faith in God and in the saving grace of Jesus Christ. He knew the secret of being content.

Prayer for today:
Heavenly Father, May we be truly thankful for all the blessings we receive. No matter what life brings our way, may we always remember that there are others in the world who are worse off than we are. Help us to see the good in the world, and the good in others around us. Teach us to bloom where we are planted. In Jesus' name, amen.
