The Reason for my Hope

"Be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have" (1 Peter 3:15)

The Reverend Billy Graham died this week at the age of 99. Thousands of mourners lined up to pay tribute to the great evangelist lying in honor in the Capital Rotunda in Washington DC. He was known throughout the world as an ambassador for Christ, reaching millions of people with the message of God's grace and the power of prayer. I remember him telling the story of his mother, who would come downstairs every morning and look out the kitchen window and say "I wonder if this is the day when Christ will return." His parents passed on their faith to Billy, and he and Ruth passed it on to their five children and to the entire world. The impact of their faithful testimonies to the world is immeasurable. My wife and I have tried to pass on to our five children the faith and hope we received from our parents. I will never be Billy Graham, but I do want to share my faith in the Lord with as many in the world as I possibly can, and to bring to others the hope of eternal life that means so much to me.
