To My Home in the Heavens (A Miltonic Sonnet)
When I dream in the nighttime of heaven above
I dream of the angels inhabiting there
The Cherubs and Seraphim lovely and fair
Praising and honoring the Father with love
Their clothing so bright it shines like a dove
The love on their faces and the smiles that they wear
And their gold halo brilliant atop their light hair
Hands clean and pretty, no need for a glove
They speak oh so softly in voices so low
They never get tired so there's no need for rest
Their wings are so light when they fly through the air
Serving the Father and us mortals best
Who live out our lives, lives meant as a test
A test if we pass takes us home in the heavens.
